At Nature Designs, we’ve seen firsthand how landscape design in Del Mar is evolving. As a local business, we’re always excited to see the creative ways homeowners are transforming their outdoor spaces. From eco-friendly choices to modern designs that blend functionality with beauty, here are some of the landscape design trends we love in Del Mar.
Water-free landscaping
One of the most popular trends in Del Mar is water-wise landscaping, and for good reason. With California’s ongoing drought issues, homeowners are increasingly turning to sustainable solutions that conserve water. Drought-tolerant plants, native species, and efficient irrigation systems help reduce water consumption while still providing a lush, vibrant landscape. At Nature Designs, we love incorporating these eco-friendly elements into our clients’ yards, ensuring they look beautiful and are also water-efficient.
Outdoor living space
The trend toward creating outdoor living spaces has been growing steadily, especially in a coastal area like Del Mar. Homeowners are transforming their backyards into functional spaces where they can entertain, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. Whether it’s a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy fire pit, or a shaded patio area, outdoor living is all about comfort and style. At Nature Designs, we specialize in designing these types of spaces, blending aesthetics with practicality for year-round enjoyment.
Gardens that require little maintenance
Busy lifestyles often make it hard to keep up with high-maintenance gardens, so low-maintenance landscaping is becoming increasingly popular in Del Mar. Homeowners are opting for hardscaping elements like patios, walkways, and retaining walls combined with hardy plants that require minimal care. This trend not only makes yards easier to maintain but also creates a clean, polished look. At Nature Designs, we love working with clients to create low-maintenance gardens that still feel vibrant and inviting.
Native plants that attract bees
Using native plants is another trend that continues to gain popularity in Del Mar. Native plants are not only well-suited to our local climate, but they also provide food and shelter for pollinators like bees and butterflies. Incorporating pollinator-friendly plants into your landscape design can help support local ecosystems while adding beauty to your outdoor space. We’re passionate about selecting the right native plants for our clients’ gardens at Nature Designs to enhance the natural environment.
Minimalism
Simplicity is key in modern landscape design, and minimalist design is one trend we love. Clean lines, open spaces, and a focus on functionality are hallmarks of this style. The idea is to create a calm, uncluttered environment that lets the beauty of nature shine through. Minimalist design works well in Del Mar’s coastal landscape, where the natural surroundings are as important as the design elements. At Nature Designs, we enjoy creating minimalist landscapes that provide a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
